Restaurant and cafe social media: what fills seats in 2026

By · - Restaurants already have plenty to film. This guide covers what to show and when to post it.

What people check before they visit

Before trying a new spot, people check what the restaurant has posted lately. They look at the food, the room, and what customers are saying. People can check a restaurant's Instagram 24 hours a day to see the food and the room before they visit. Restaurants and cafes already have plenty to photograph during a normal day.

Three post formats for restaurants and cafes

Short food clips. Fifteen seconds is enough to show steam, cheese pulls, latte art, or flames on the grill. Keep the sound on. This gives people a quick look at what they could order.

One dish per post. Shoot it in daylight, name the dish, and include the price. Put the menu in the caption so people don't have to leave the post to find it.

People at the restaurant. Show the barista who remembers orders, the kitchen at 6am, or the corner where regulars sit. A first visit may start with the food. By the tenth, the familiar faces are part of the reason people return.

When to post restaurant content

Post while people are deciding where to eat: 7–8am for coffee and brunch, 11am for lunch, and 4–5pm for dinner plans. By 10pm, many people have already chosen where to eat. See the full posting windows in our best-time guide.

Keep your Google Business Profile current

People check Google before they visit, too. Keep your hours current, link the menu, add recent photos, and answer reviews — the profile checklist takes half an hour. Those details help someone searching "best brunch near me" decide whether to visit.

The kitchen problem

At 7am, the team is busy in the kitchen or at the counter. Filming, writing a caption, and publishing a post gets pushed aside. Posting gets more consistent when one person is responsible for it as part of their job. On a Sundayable plan, our team makes the daily content and cuts each reel. You review it from your phone between rushes. Once you approve it, we post it on schedule.
